Empty Bowls 2008

January 5th, 2008 by admin

Signature style

Anyone going to be in Tempe on February 22nd and 23rd should attend the Empty Bowls event in Downtown Tempe.  I was one of the ceramic artists who made bowls for the event.  $10 buys a handmade bowl and some soup.  All proceeds benefit local food banks.

For three years now, I’ve made bowls with wax-resist designs.  The shown bowl is Shino on Rod’s Bod, fired to cone 10.   Most of my bowls have either my chop (kanji spelling out Kei-Ta) or “Kater” inscribed on the bottom, in case someone wants to collect the whole set (16 bowls.)
