Green Buckle Book

March 5th, 2008 by admin

Green Buckle Book backTo create the cover of this book, I first started by stamping onto a piece of muslin.  You can see the postmarks of the stamp in the upper right hand corner.  After the pigment had dried, I attached the muslin to the semitransparent green fabric with acrylic medium.  I sewed the copper beads on before gluing the spine stiffening board to the inside of the fabric.  I made the leather strip for the buckle out of green suede, and attached the freshwater pearls to it by sewing with fine wire.  Glue didn’t hold the buckle as well as I would have liked, so I sewed the leaf on top of it to help hold it on.  The buckle is functional.
