Printed Proof

Look! Lookie Look! See what this is? This is a proof copy of the paper version of SEEING THINGS. Are you excited? Me too!

I just got this last Thursday. I thought my initial reaction would be one of overwhelming glee, but frankly, it needs a lot of work. The margins didn’t come out right, and honestly, the cover is a mess. Everything is pixelated, even the font. I think I’m going to have to troll the Createspace forums to figure out how to fix that.

I did make a new tea-leaf title cup, and took photos of it on Thursday night. Now I just have to work on the cover. And also fix the margin errors. And the header errors. And I asked one of my favorite beta-readers to edit it, and he gave the book back with a fringed mane of “fix it” errors.

I’m grateful, really, but also…sigh.

By the way, the painting that the book is resting on is the original copy of the texture for the background. I used it (with other layers) for the ebook cover too.

In other news: TREEMAKER has finished out its 90 day purgatory in Kindle Direct Publishing. I think I got all of one “borrow” during that time. Gee whiz, and all I had to do was unpublish it from Smashwords, making it unavailable for anyone who didn’t own a kindle. I did get 5 free days, which was nice as I got a lot of downloads, but all in all, I think it’s not worth it. Maybe someone else does, but it wasn’t good for me. Worth a shot though.

So, if you were wondering why you couldn’t get Treemaker, now you know. It’s back, so anyone with a nook can get it. In fact, for your patience, here’s a coupon code for 50% off FF85K. Coupon expires April 11th.

I’m still working on (re)writing the fourth book, working title FAERIE KILLER. I’m at 81,000 words, give or take. Tentative release date is still in May, but I’m also shooting for having the print version of SEEING THINGS out by May as well. Anyone know where I can buy time?

Yes! I was thrilled when I found the shop that sells it, too… unfortunately, they only do business in Spring of 1946 (closed on Sundays).

Seriously, so proud of you, lady! 🙂

Yay Kater! Hard copies, in time for Wiscon? Awesome! I’ll bring postcards. Have you scheduled a reading?

I haven’t scheduled a reading yet. I was thinking Broad Universe? Unless you want to share?
