Poppies on Map

poppies on map Drawing on maps was the thing that started me on this drawing phase. I’d seen some songbirds drawn with semi-translucent ink on maps as part of an illustration on a wall hanging at Ikea. So I started drawing birds on maps, then other things on other surfaces. Here’s a map, or, more accurately, not a map but a printed paper with map-type backgrounds on it. I drew the poppies because I have red ink, and because I really like poppies. I used to grow them in my front yard every year, huge swaths of red and pink and white Flanders poppies (they start out red and then mutate). Since then, poppies have crept into my art more and more.
